What brings you joy in our profession

What can we do together to get the schools our children deserve in Springfield

What can we propose in bargaining to increase the joy and reduce the energy drain

What drains the energy out of you

SEA members stand out in front of 1550 Main Street in support of the Bargaining Team on May 11.

The SEA Bargaining Team began negotiations for our new contract on Wednesday, May 11th. A group of about 100 members sent the team off to that session after gathering on the courtyard in front of Central Office.

In the meeting with management the SEA team presented the results of the Bargaining Survey  (including all the comments) that you completed during December and January.   Bargaining team members presented information on the top four (non-financial) areas that they and the Executive Board have identified as the basis for our bargaining platform:  Workload, School Culture and Administrative Bullying, Teacher Voice in Decisions and Less Testing. Throughout the meeting a large poster hung that showed the data supporting the four areas.

In addition, the bargaining team is prioritizing dealing with the equity issues that exists between Putnam Vocational Academy and other Vocational schools in the area.  A team member explained some of those issues.*
